Maseru is the capital of Lesotho. It is also the capital of the Maseru District. Located on the Caledon River, bordering South Africa, Maseru is Lesotho's only sizable city, with a population of approximately 227,880 (2006). The city was established as a police camp and assigned as the capital after the country became a British protectorate in 1869. When the country achieved independence in 1966, Maseru retained its status as capital. The name of the city is a Sesotho word meaning "place of the red sandstone''.
Hi, I just wanted to let you know the great service we had with McTavish Travel. We worked with Carolyn to book our trip to Australia. She took care of our visa's and flights. Our son lost his passport in Australia, we called Carolyn to find out what we could do about our flights to come back. Carolyn worked with us in cancelling and re-booking some flights. Even with the time change, we couldn't always get a hold of Carolyn. Carolyn gave us an email address to contact her after hours which we were very thankful for. Thanks again for the great service Carolyn. We will be using McTavish Travel again.
